The Bible says that Jesus is already at the right hand of the Father: Jesus already rules and reigns. Even now, Jesus controls the destiny of this planet and inhabitants more than anybody realizes, moving everything toward its conclusion.

God did us a favor! He told us ahead of time how this world will end, so we will not be alarmed or frightened as earth cranks up to its final explosive conclusion. Clues about the end of the world are scattered throughout the Bible, and the Book of Revelation is dedicated to it.

The day when Jesus returns to earth, is very close. We know this because the Jewish people are the marker that proves God’s timetable. The Jews are back in their land, so this is THE PRIMARY SIGN that the book of Revelation will begin to happen!

In order for the very specific prophecies of the Second Coming to be truly fulfilled, Israel had to be in their Homeland.

Although Christians have predicted the Second Coming of Jesus Christ for centuries, THIS is the one really important thing that was lacking: because Israel was scattered to the nations.  And who could ever hope that they would go home again? It seemed impossible, and it was impossible.

People argue that "The Second Coming has been predicted for centuries" as if that's an excuse to shrug it off. But Jesus commanded us to BELIEVE IT, even if it didn't seem to be true at the time. And now, when the signs are definitely being fulfilled, people are so much in the habit of ignoring any signs of the Lord's Return that it's STILL difficult to get them to listen.

The one thing we can't ignore is Israel. The nation of Israel is constantly on the news, and it's hard to understand why this tiny country matters so much. I think it could very well be God's way of waving huge red flags in our faces!!

ISRAEL is the reason why we can say
with REAL confidence to THIS Generation:

Ezekiel 37

The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know. ”

4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life. 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord. ’”

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.

9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.

11 Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. 13 Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. 14 I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord. ’”

From nothingness, God created a nation. God pulled people from here and there and made something out of nothing. This miracle of the Jewish homeland should be enough to make each of us get serious with God!

If you have read the story of how Israel became a Nation once again, you will see that it was very touch-and-go through the entire lengthy process. And there was unbelievable resistance. As Ezekiel describes the army of bones coming together in stages, that is how it happened as God resurrected the nation of Israel and placed them back in their homeland.

Every stage was a miracle. This is because nothing can stop the Hand of God, and it was God Himself who declared that it would happen. And it was God Himself who did it.

In order for the very specific prophecies of the Second Coming to be truly fulfilled, Israel had to be in their Homeland.

Furthermore, Jesus said that once we saw these things happening then He would return within the span of one man's lifetime.  Israel became a nation in 1948. And they gained control of Jerusalem in 1967. These two dates are significant. Most of our World War II Veterans are gone now, so there might not be much time left at all.

The span of one man's lifetime: sometimes I wonder which man or which generation that God was looking at when He started the countdown!

In the 1970's there was a lot of talk about the return of the Lord Jesus, but there were many things that did not make sense and people tried to cram their ideas into the timeline. I think they were trying to speed up the process.

But it was another 25 years before the prophecies began to make REAL sense and "cramming" was no longer necessary because all the prophecies began to fall into place in logical order and fulfillment. Yes, I think we can be confident that the return of Jesus Christ will be soon. But all through the centuries, Christians have believed it and looked for it. Jesus blessed them for carrying that anticipation forward, even when it didn't happen in their generation.

Remember that Abraham was blessed for believing the promise, even though he didn't see it happen with his own eyes. God did indeed do ALL for Abraham that he had promised. And Jesus will do the same for us: what he desires most from us is the faith to believe what he has promised. Jesus asked: will he find faith on the earth when he returns?
